Posted by Matt Yeamans on December 13, 2015 at 11:20 PM

The Allen wrestling varsity squad placed 13 wrestlers with 12 wrestlers in the finals at the 30-team Chuck West Invitational in Bristow, Oklahoma this weekend. The team made a statement in Oklahoma by scoring over 300 points for the second consecutive weekend and finishing over 100 points higher than Coweta, who finished second in both the 5A Oklahoma Dual State Tournament and the Individual State Tournament last season.

This tournament featured several individual state champions and state placers from Oklahoma as well. Allen’s Nico Manzonelli pinned Dylan Enyart, a state champion from Vinita, in the heavyweight semifinals and Allen senior Patrick Bryan pinned Brock Martin, a state champion from Oologah, in the finals at 220-pounds.

Two other Eagles also earned falls in the finals. It only took Juwan Robinson 29 seconds in the 145-pound finals match to earn his tournament title, and freshman Trent Dooley earned a fall 50 seconds into the third period in the 126-pound championship finals.

Overall the Eagles had six champions, six second place finishers, and a fourth place finisher. In addition, the Eagles’ JV squad had three individual placers in this varsity tournament and finished 15th as a team.

It was a strong showing for the Allen wrestlers for the second straight weekend.
