To Earn Title
After an outstanding tournament this weekend in Katy, junior 215#, Kiara Swain earned the distinction
of being Allen Wrestling’s first-ever female Regional wrestling champion. Congratulations, Kiara! Best wishes for a
STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
EAGLE WRESTLERS EARN REGIONAL RUNNER-UP HONORS
After two days of rugged competition in what is considered to be the state’s
toughest region, three Eagles have earned a berth in the 2008 State tournament held in Austin.
Representing Allen at
State will be:
112# Sophomore Roderick Gaines- CHAMPION
145# Junior Eden Bernstein – RUNNER-UP
125# Senior
Talbot Rasmussen – THIRD
Led by 10 seniors, Lake Highlands captured the Region III title with four qualifiers
and 148.5 points. Allen finished second in the 45 team field scoring 131.5 points and placing 7 wrestlers in the top 6 of
their respective weight classes.
Placing, but not qualifying were: 103# Steven Reyes (5th), 119# Alex
‘Jersey’ LeGrande (5th), 152# Zach Cobb (4th), and 215# Travis Springfield (6th). Reyes, LeGrande, and Cobb will
serve as alternates and compete if a qualifier is injured,ill, or unable to compete.
Winning matches, but not placing
were: 135# Ophir Bernstein, 160# Garrett Johnson, and 171# Paul Smout, and 285# Richard Greer.
