JV EAGLES DOMINATE,
#9 REAPPEARS IN ALLEN WRESTLING
According to astrology, the number 9, being the highest of all single digit numbers, holds an elevated position and
possesses special properties. Few Eagle wrestling fans would argue that point!
After the Varsity Eagles qualified an Allen record of NINE wrestlers for UIL State competition , the JV put a NINE
in the record books themselves this weekend.
Dominating the ‘09 Collin County JV Tournament, Allen recorded an impressive NINE Champions. Winners were Chase
Luttrell, Taylor Krais, Chandler Casey, Jared Levin, Paul Daniel Lopez, Jacob Downey, Cody Slawson, Leif Ringstad, and Dillon
Herlehy. Runner-ups were Clynt Hogan and Ethan Nelson, both losing to Eagle teammates.
Tyler Redlich and Mason Gartman both medalled with fourth place finishes. Also competing and/or winning matches were
: Alis Mehic, Frankie Clift (1), and Hunter Hamlin (1).
Following the example set last week by the Varsity, the JV more than doubled the score of runner-up team, Flower Mound
154-76. Also awarded trophies were Rockwall (3rd) and Hebron (4th).
Most Outstanding Wrestler Awards went to Allen’s 215# Freshman, Dillon Herlehy (Upper Weights) and Flower Mound’s
141#, Greyson Medina (Lower Weights).
“The JV is a vital part of our program”, according to Coach Jerry Best. “We get them as much competition
as the rules allow. These guys really push our Varsity in practice and it benefits both teams”.
Though the JV competition is now concluded for this season, the wrestlers will continue to practice this week as the
Varsity begins final preparations for their run at the State title.
The Texas UIL State Wrestling Tournament begins Friday in Austin’s Delco Center at ……… you
